Salt, Then Sour, Then Sweet | The Waning Crescent Moon, Taurus New Moon & One Committed Decision

Whenever I visit my best friend, I always come home with a new song I listen to on repeat.

And this trip I came home with the gem of a song:
Salt, Then Sour, Then Sweet with Sara Bareilles and Brandi Carlile.

Have you heard it?

The song was created from the poetry and words of Andrea Gibson before they passed away from ovarian cancer, and honestly…knowing that makes it hit even deeper while listening to the lyrics.

Because you don’t arrive at words like those without life changing you first.

Without grief changing you.
Without loss changing you.
Without having to let go of what no longer matters.

There’s something that happens when someone comes face to face with the fragility of life.

Knowing that you’re on borrowed time.

The small things fall away.
The pretending falls away.
The pressure to perform falls away.

And suddenly what matters becomes very clear…

Love.
Presence.
Connection.
Being authentic.
The people beside you.
The moments you almost missed while rushing or being afraid of the truth.

That’s what I feel in the song.

A softness that could only come from someone who understands how precious life actually is, and how every emotion we feel is part of the fullness of life.

That energy feels very connected to where we are astrologically right now.

The Waning Crescent Moon Strips Away the Noise

The Waning Crescent Moon tends to strip away the noise.

Not always dramatically…Sometimes quietly.

You start realizing:

“I don’t want to live like this anymore.”

Have you been feeling that too?

Not necessarily because everything is terrible, But because something deeper in you is asking for more honesty.

There’s something about knowing the history behind a song that makes it hit deeper…isn’t that true for all of us?

When I was a matchmaker, I used to say:

“We can fall in love with almost anyone if we know their story.”

And really…what we fall in love with is vulnerability, truth, and the humanness of someone.

This week we are in the Waning Crescent Moon phase, preparing for the Taurus New Moon.

And this phase?

It can feel:

  • strange

  • tender

  • emotional

  • quiet

You may feel:

  • emotional but unsure why

  • more tired than usual

  • introspective

  • detached from things you normally care about

  • sensitive to noise, people, or pressure

  • like you want to pull back and just be for a second

Try not to look at this like laziness. Your system may actually be preparing.

The Waning Crescent Moon is the final exhale before the New Moon.

The space between endings and beginnings.

A transition point.

This is where your body and nervous system start asking:

“What am I no longer available for?”

And also:

“What actually matters to me now?”

This phase is not about forcing clarity.

It’s about creating enough quiet to hear yourself again…

So that when you arrive at the New Moon, your intentions are rooted in truth instead of pressure.

The Taurus New Moon Wants Something Different

And then comes the Taurus New Moon at the end of this week.

Taurus energy wants:

  • groundedness

  • stability

  • devotion

  • pleasure

  • sustainability

  • embodiment

  • beauty

  • slowness that creates long-term growth

This is the energy of:

“I trust myself enough to build slowly and well.”

“I value myself enough to give myself the space and time to expand.”

Taurus reminds us that:

  • the nervous system matters

  • safety matters

  • slow dedicated movement creates lasting change

  • your body is not separate from your manifestations

And I think many of us are realizing we don’t want the life that burns us out anymore.

We want the life that nourishes us. Notice how many people want to slow things down lately?

They want:

  • slow mornings sipping coffee listening to birds sing

  • long walks without rushing

  • work that feels grounded and meaningful

  • beauty woven into daily life

This is part of the collective shift happening right now.

One Committed Decision

This Friday I’ll be guiding the Taurus New Moon Ritual + Intuitive Reading.

And the biggest theme already coming through is this:

One committed decision.

Not twenty new goals.

Not trying to become a completely different person overnight.

One decision that aligns your:

  • energy

  • body

  • nervous system

  • and actions in the same direction.

And the beautiful thing is…Taurus does not require the decision to be loud or dramatic.

Taurus loves:

  • beauty

  • slowness

  • devotion

  • embodiment

  • full body alignment

So the question to sit with this week is:

What truly nourishes me?

Inside the ritual we’ll move through:

✨ a channeled meditation activation
✨ nervous system grounding + embodiment
✨ releasing what keeps pulling you out of alignment
✨ Taurus New Moon intention setting
✨ a collective intuitive reading
✨ and if time allows, individual readings afterward

You’ll also receive the Taurus New Moon Workbook so you can continue working with the energy after the ritual.

And if you want access to all past and future rituals + intuitive readings, the Lunar Wisdom Library gives you access to the full growing archive.

Intuitive Reading + Card Pulls

What are you currently releasing?

Three of Wands

There’s a part of you that wants things to move faster with your manifestations and goals…

And there’s another part of you that knows things cannot be rushed.

Celebrate your milestones…even the small ones.

For example, If you’re a writer and you wrote down one idea today, celebrate that.

You took action. Slow and steady wins the race right now.

Have confidence in your pace. Do not let scarcity dictate your pace.

Ride the waves of intuitive nudges and divine pings that come through.

What does the energy want you to build?

Six of Swords Reversed

You may have been stuck in a loop for a long time now. Running. Avoiding. Delaying.

And part of you may feel trapped by it. It’s time to think differently about what is actually keeping the cycle going.

This may be a beautiful time to explore:

  • IFS (Internal Family Systems)

  • nervous system work

  • inner child work

  • protective parts work

More than likely there is a “firefighter” part of you trying to keep you safe from the unknown of the next level of your life.

Work with that part of yourself. Not against it. It may actually be trying to protect you, but it needs a different job so that there is harmony.

What decision changes everything?

Two of Swords

If you’ve been weighing your options or afraid to make a decision…

This is your sign. It is time to choose.

Almost anything can be adjusted later.

You’ve been living with:

  • one foot in

  • one foot out

And this energy is asking for full presence. The confusion may not actually be confusion.

It may be fear that the thing your heart truly wants is not actually meant for you.

But it is.

Remind yourself:

this desire exists in you for a reason.

This is also a beautiful time to focus on:

  • creativity

  • artistry

  • beauty

  • self-expression

  • creating a life that feels good to live inside of

Whatever you’ve been avoiding…Decide to meet it.

What becomes possible when you trust yourself?

Nine of Wands

This feels like a full-circle moment. But this time…you actually see your growth.

You see:

  • your resilience

  • your perseverance

  • your strength

No grit, no pearl.

And that’s exactly what is happening right now. You are so much closer than you think.

In fact…

you may only be one committed decision away.

Keep focusing on what nourishes you.

Sending love your way,

Dorothy

P.S. If you feel called to work more deeply with this energy, join us this Friday for the Taurus New Moon Ritual + Intuitive Reading.

And if you want access to all past and future rituals + intuitive readings, the Lunar Wisdom Library gives you access to the entire growing collection.

Sometimes your whole life changes…

not because you forced it…

but because you finally became devoted to what matters most.
